December 10th

Today we began our exploration of the Treaty of Versailles which was a peace treaty signed June 23rd, 1919 between the Allied Powers and Germany. Students participated in filling out a chart, exploring different historical perspectives and then finished by doing a reading for next class.

Today we continued constructing a Timeline of events leading up to WWII to understand what was occurring at this period in time.

Today we explored the Rise of Hitler. Students took notes form the PPT and then we worked on finishing up the 'Adolf Hitler Speech and Nanking Massacre handouts"

Today we focused on doing a Read and Sketch where students listened to a narrative on WWII and then drew a picture of what they saw.

December 14th

Today we looked at the different between Open-Ended questions (one's that force us to think inwardly and deeply) and Close-ended questions (one's that we can respond to with a word or two) and how to create these types of questions.
The students then watched the 2nd episode of WWII in Colour - Lightening War (Blitzkrieg) to gain a new understanding on how this tactic in war was utilized.

Today we looked at the different leaders that emerged during WWII as well as what makes a good leader. The students participated in a Gallery Walk and at the end of class they began to work on finishing up their timeline.
