March 9th

Today we continued our exploration of Western Expansion by looking at the establishment of roads, the Indian Removal Act of 1830, the Missouri Compromise of 1820, and the Gold Rush of 1849. Students then watched some clips from the movie 'Glory' to gain a better understanding of the Civil War and the 54th Massachusetts Regiment which was the first all Black regiment following the emancipation declaration.

Today we explored the 100 years war fought between England and France. We looked at the story of Joan of Arc and then watched some clips from the movie, 'The Messenger' to better understand how medieval wars were fought.
They were also tasked with writing an essay for the 'Knight's Tale', and introduced to the PEEL method (Point, Explain, Evidence and Link) for connecting their paragraphs to their thesis.
