Socials 9

Today students explored the 13 colonies. They gained an understanding of the economic, geographical, and social factors that existed in the New England colonies, Middle Colonies and Southern Colonies. We also briefly explored how expansion over the Appalachian Mountains lead to conflict with Indigenous groups.

We looked at the rise of Charlemagne's Frankish Empire. Students took notes on his father and grand-father, Pepin the Short and Charles Martel and we looked at a key battle during this period of time, the Battle of Tours where Charles Martel and his Frankish army defeated a Muslim invading army in present day Southern France.

Students attended a Remembrance Day Assembly.

English 8

Students did a Poetry Gallery Walk and explored numerous poems and decided on which ones they enjoyed and which ones they disliked. They then took notes on how to write a poem and crafted their own poem.
