First Knight and Tennis Court Oath

Good Morning,

Block A/F

Today we looked at the calling of the Estates General in 1789, which preludes the French Revolution. This is where for 2 month's the men from three different estates (clergy, nobility and peasants) argued about making reforms in the government. Well they were suppose to, but they never got to that point. They argued for 2 months about how they should vote.

We looked at how the third estate eventually broke off from this, and formed their own government, the national assembly. It is here in the Tennis Court outside of Versailles that they made their oath, the Tennis Court Oath, promising to create for France a Constitution!

We also created our own Oath's today in class and worked on Journal Entry #2/#3.

Block BD/EH

Today we explored the life of a Knight. We looked at how our modern routines are quite different then the routines of the Middle Ages. We then looked at what the life of a knight would be like and worked on our journals for the day.

Lastly, we began our video, "First Knight" which explores one of the novels we have been talking briefly about in class, "La Morte D'arthur". This video looks at what it was like to become a Knight at King Arthur's Round Table.

The questions for the movie can be found here.
